Power Grid Q2 profit rises 7.8% to ₹2,309.5 crore

Power Grid Corporation of India has reported a ₹2,309.49-crore net profit for Q2 FY19, 7.87 per cent higher than the ₹2,141.04 crore reported in Q2 FY18.

Total income rose nearly 16 per cent to ₹8,689.95 crore.

The company also reported significantly higher expenses — ₹6,168.37 crore in the latest quarter against ₹4,880.25 crore in the previous-year period. The higher expenses pushed down the company’s margins. Profit before tax and regulatory deferral account balances was reported lower at ₹2,521.58 crore (₹2,612.27 crore).

In a regulatory filing, the company has recognised transmission income at ₹7,104.34 crore (₹5,770.69 crore). This includes an income of ₹842.14 crore in Q2 FY19.
