Automotive parts manufacturer Pricol Limited

A day after it issued the sacking order to 294 striking workers who had turned down the company’s transfer order, auto components manufacturing major Pricol on Tuesday decided to reconsider the dismissal. However, it said, the workers had to give a written consent to resume duty at their allotted locations within seven days.

The sacked workmen, however, maintained that they had not received any such communication from the company.

The company meanwhile said in a statement a few of the transferred employees had commenced work at their newly allotted locations while the remaining 294 had not responded to its written appeals for the past 75 days.

“We are left with no option but to dismiss them from services with effect from February 11, 2019, as per their contract of employment conditions and statutory guidelines,” the statement said, adding a line on reconsideration of the dismissal order.

The Coimbatore District Pricol Workers’ Union, an AICCTU affiliate, has been functional in the company’s Coimbatore plants since 2007.
