Automobile component manufacturer Pricol Ltd will use the forthcoming sub-contracting fair Subcon 2011 in Coimbatore to enlarge its vendor base and help them move up in the value chain.
The fair, being jointly organised by the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia) and the National Small Industries Corporation, has attracted participants not only from India but from the UAE (Sharjah) too.
According to Mr R. Surendran, Chairman, Subcon 2011, the fifth edition of Subcon to be held from July 8-11 has drawn nearly 200 participants as it offered a platform for big industries and their vendors in the MSME sector to come together. Outsourcing helped large companies to reduce cost and to keep low inventory levels and Subcon also enabled better visibility for new launches.
A major highlight of this year's fair would be the initiative taken by Coimbatore-based auto component manufacturer Pricol Ltd to use it to enlarge its supplier base by identifying ‘plant-proximate vendors' and the aim was to consolidate component delivery mechanisms into composite sub-assembly deliveries that would offer value addition to vendors in the company's supply chain and help them move up in the value chain.
