Punj Lloyd has won a contract worth ₹ 2,780 crore for the TANAP Gas Pipeline in Turkey.
In a regulatory filing, Punj Lloyd said its 50:50 joint venture (JV) with Limak has won the 459-km TANAP gas pipeline project worth Rs 2,780 crore in Turkey.
Punj Lloyd said its share in the order amounts to Rs 1,390 crore ($204 million).
The contract is for a 459-km gas pipeline with a diameter of 48 inches.
TANAP, The Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project, will be built to transport natural gas emanating from the South Caucasus Pipeline Company pipeline in Georgia and terminating into the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline in Greece.
The TANAP Project aims to bring natural gas produced from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz-2 gas field, and other areas of the Caspian Sea, primarily to Turkey and also on to Europe. The TANAP Project, along with the South Caucasus Pipeline and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, form the elements of the Southern Gas Corridor.
“Punj Lloyd’s scope of the present project is the second phase of construction from the new Eskisehir Compressor station to the tie-in point of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP),” an official statement said.
“This is the second project for Punj Lloyd-Limak joint venture in Turkey. We are the only Indian company to win a TANAP pipeline order. In such environmentally sensitive regions, one may need to reinstate rivers, conserve archaeological discoveries, employ innovative waste management practices and conserve or restore ecosystems,” Atul Jain, President and CEO of Pipelines at Punj Lloyd, said.
With this win, the Punj Lloyd group’s order backlog stands at ₹ 23,228 crore. The order backlog is the value of unexecuted orders on September 30, 2015 plus new orders received after that date, an official statement said.
