Film entertainment company PVR Ltd has launched of its nine-screen multiplex at Lulu Mall here.
The launch is part of PVR’s strategy of expanding its presence across the country. With the Kochi cinema, PVR stands at 360 screens in 86 cinemas in 36 cities.
Pramod Arora, group president, PVR Ltd, told reporters that the company has plans to have 500 screens in the country in the next two years with a total investment of Rs 1,000-1,200 crore.
The group has plans to open 50 screens in the next three to four years in Kerala and is looking at Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.
The company’s subsidiary ‘PVR Pictures’ is involved in distribution of Indian and international films across the country and also supports independent filmmakers by releasing their films under ‘PVR Director’s Rare’ banner.
The PVR multiplex in Kochi has 2K digital projection, 7.1 Dolby surround sound, 3D enabled silver screens and JBL 4-way speakers, he said.
