The UAE-based world’s largest tile maker RAK Ceramics plans to set up a greenfield plant in India to increase capacity and is looking at sites in the states such as Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The company already has a plant at Samalkot in Seemandhra. “We are evaluating options in states like MP and Chhattisgarh to set up a greenfield manufacturing unit. The unit will help us meet the growing industry demand. We would like to produce tiles of international quality,” RAK Ceramics (Ras-al Khaimah Ceramics) India chief operating officer Santosh Nema said.
The company also has plans to invest over Rs 300 crore here to augment capacity through greenfield and brownfield project expansion.
RAK India is also scouting for a joint venture partner in Gujarat, targeting mass market products, Nema said, adding India is its largest market outside the home market.
RAK runs a vitrified tile manufacturing plant at Samalkot with a capacity of 30,000 sq mtrs of tiles and 1,500 sanitary ware pieces per day. It manufactures vitrified tiles in a variety of finishes.
