Crop protection products maker Rallis India today launched a new insecticide for the control of sucking pests in paddy here today. This is the third new product to be launched this fiscal by Rallis, a Tata group company.
The product, named Hunk, also has phytotonic qualities that enhance overall crop health, besides combating pests.
K R Venkatadri, Chief Operating Officer, said the company had three more products in the pipeline for this year. Of these, two would be in the insecticide segment and the third in the fungicide space, he told mediapersons here.
The new products will be a mix of technologies sourced from overseas and those developed in-house.
The company is quickening the pace of its new launches as El Nino fears recede and the monsoons appear to be back on track, paving the way for a pick-up in farm activities and resulting in increased sales of crop protection products. “Deficiency in rainfall, which was 43 per cent in June, has now come down to 19 per cent and we believe it will further drop to 10 per cent. We see better off-take of pesticides this quarter, as compared to the last,” Venkatadri said.
