Essar Power on Friday appointed Ramesh Kumar as Managing Director, Essar Power Gujarat Ltd, which runs the 1,200-MW coal-fired plant at Salaya, Jamnagar.
According to a press release, Essar Power, a part of Essar Energy plc, is a first mover among the private sector players in the Indian power industry.
Essar Energy is a low-cost, integrated energy company focused on India to capitalise on its growing energy demand.
With around 32 years of experience, Ramesh Kumar, a post graduate in commerce and a qualified cost accountant, joins Essar Power from KSK Energy Ventures Ltd.
Besides being Managing Director of the holding company, KSK Electricity Financing India Pvt Ltd, he also held the position of President-Operations.
Prior to KSK Energy Ventures, Kumar served with Andhra Cements as Vice-President-Finance.
He will be responsible for the entire operations of Essar Power’s imported coal-fired 1,200-MW Salaya power plant at Gujarat, and will report to K.V.B. Reddy, Executive Director, Essar Power.
