Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd, which already has strong presence in Africa, is opening a manufacturing facility in Casablanca, Morocco.
The company hopes that this would open the doors for a direct business presence in North Africa with Morocco’s pharma market itself estimated at $1 billion.
Ranbaxy said that with the successful audit of the facility by the Moroccan health authorities, Ranbaxy Morocco was authorised to begin production at its Casablanca facility. The company identified Morocco as an important market and plans to extend supply from here to other African countries.
Ranbaxy already has manufacturing facilities in Nigeria and South Africa and its distribution network covers 44 of the 54 countries in the African continent.
