The much awaited Land Rover is here. The Range Rover Evoque was launched on Friday, with prices starting from Rs 44.75 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai.
The Evoque has three diesel variants and a petrol one. The diesel models have five doors, while the petrol is a three-door model.
The Evoque, had generated huge anticipation even before launch. The Evoque was first unveiled in July 2010 but sales began in the UK in September. “Around 30,000 bookings have happened around the world. In fact, even before the launch today, most of the Evoque stock in India has already been booked,” Mr P.M. Telang, Managing Director-India Operations, Tata Motors, said at the launch.
The Evoque will be a completely built unit and no localisation or completely knocked down units are planned as of now, he added.
The Evoque is powered either by a 2.0-litre petrol or a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine, both with an automatic gearbox. The Evoque, the smallest car from the Land Rover stable, is set to take on BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
Jaguar Land Rover has 10 showrooms across India and three are in the pipeline, including a planned second showroom in Mumbai.
Land Rover sells the Freelander 2, Range Rover and Discovery 4 SUVs in India. While Freelander 2 is assembled in India, the other models are imported from the UK factory.
