Realtor and mall developer Mr Gowri Shankar Gupta was arrested by the Central Crime Station of Hyderabad for land dealings and allegedly defrauding the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority by using DLF Ltd’s name.
Mr Gupta entered into agreements with HMDA mentioning that he was the authorised signatory on behalf of real estate major DLF Ltd.
HMDA had complained that Mr Gupta forged some letters of DLF Ltd and obtained 24 acres under concession as per Government norms. The police contended that Mr Gupta forged several other documents and fraudulently acquired land and paid registration fee from his own funds, all the time mentioning he was authorised by DLF to do so.
According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr K.V. Ram Narasimha Reddy, during investigation it was clear that Mr Gupta with the assistance of his employees used DLF name for obtaining Government land at concessional rate, without keeping DLF in the loop.
