ReGen Powertech, which manufacturers wind power turbines at its plant near Chennai, today announced that it has received orders worth Rs 1,600 crore from two independent power producers — Hero Future Energies and Sembcorp Green Infra.
ReGen makes 1.5 MW wind turbines with technology from Vensys, Germany. The orders are for 150 MW from Hero Future and 60 MW from Sembcorp Green Infra.
With projects under execution in various stages, ReGen is set to commission 400 MW of wind power capacity in the current financial year, a press release from the company says.
The company, promoted by Madhusudhan Khemka and the Hyderabad-based Nuziveedu group, had started its operations in 2008 and is close to achieving sales of 2,000 MW.
The release says ReGen has developed a 2.8-MW machine in-house, which is undergoing tests at a site near Coimbatore. The company will also launch two other models of wind turbines next year, it says.
