Lockout was declared at four ancillary units of Regency Ceramics at Yanam on Friday. The four units are Regency Glazes Ltd (two units), Regma Packaging Pvt Ltd. and Regma Paper Products. Roughly, 200 workers are employed in the four units.
The Regency management stated in the notice that the products produced in the units were being used in Regency Ceramics and as the main factory had been rendered unfit for operation, there was no option but to declare lockout at the ancillaries as well.
The management declared lockout at the main factory of Regency Ceramics at Yanam following violent incidents last week, which claimed the lives of a union leader and the President of the company. So far nine workers have been arrested in connection with the case.
