In a bid to encourage companies to go green and lower the environmental impact of long commutes for employees, Regus, the global flexible workplace provider, is opening its business lounges for free work on Earth Day which falls on April 22.
According to the company statement, the idea behind the promotional initiative is to help employees save gas and reduce emissions by skipping the long commute and working from a Regus center instead.
Regus is also providing a commuter calculator to enable commuters visualise the amount of money and time they would save if they were to work from a Regus center instead of their office.
Avoidable carbon emissions, wasted time and loss of productivity are just a few of the negatives associated with a lengthy travel time, believed the company.
The average one-way commuting time in Mumbai is 47.26 minutes, in Delhi is 42.96 minutes and in Bangalore is 37.91 minutes, according to data from Payscale , a US-based salary tracking firm.
“By offering free flexible work space for everyone, not only is Regus encouraging workplace sustainability, but it also hopes that participating corporations will experience the benefits of giving employees flexible work options,” added the company press statement.
Sahil Verma, Chief Operating Officer - India, Regus said, “Conservation of Earth and its environment is the most critical issue as we move into 21st century and the way we work changes. Flexi working hours and substantial reduction in travel and emission levels would go a long way in making our Earth a better place to live and work”.
