Reliance Defence Ltd of the Anil Ambani Group has entered into an agreement with three Ukrainian defence companies — SC Ukroboronprom, SE Antonov, and SE SpetsTechnoExport — for developing military aircraft and other weapon systems.
The SC Ukroboronprom signed an agreement for implementing a number of joint projects in aircraft building and aviation overhaul, modernisation of armoured vehicles, maintenance of marine machines and supply of UAVs, a statement issued Reliance Defence said.
The SE Antonov and Reliance Defence will jointly participate in the tender announced by the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd for the production of passenger and cargo aircraft AN-148, AN-158, AN-178.
Between SE SpetsTechnoExport and the Indian company a memorandum on joint participation in the modernisation of BMP-2 (Infantry fighting vehicles) for the Indian Army was signed.
Collaboration primarily concerns the manufacture and supply of components and systems for improving BMPs mobility, modernisation of BMPs sighting and fire control systems.
The Indian inventory of BMP-2 is about 2,000 vehicles and most of them need upgrading and improving tactical and technical systems, the statement said.
