Reliance Power said that the fifth 660 MW unit of its 3,960 MW Sasan power project has commenced generation.
With the fifth unit generating, the total capacity operational at Sasan is 3,300 MW. The last unit also of 660 MW is in the advanced stage of production and would be commissioned over the next few months, R Power said.
The Sasan power project is an integrated power plant and coal mining project. Coal production has commenced from the 20 million tonne Moher and Moher-Amlohri coal mines associated with the power project.
R Power said its generation capacity has now increased to 5,185 MW, which includes 5,100 MW of thermal capacity and 85 MW of renewable energy.
