French auto major Renault has named its upcoming Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV), code named RBC, Triber. The sub-four-metre MPV will be Renault India’s first all-new launch, since Captur was introduced in November 2017.
What should customers look out for?
The seven-seater is based on a new platform developed by Renault and is slated to compete against certain variants of Ertiga (Maruti Suzuki), Honda BR-V and Datsun Go Plus among others.
According to various media reports, the MPV is slated to be launched in India by July this year.
The MPV will powered by both petrol and diesel engines, with the petrol version expected to be rolled out with a 1-litre engine and the diesel a bigger 1.5-litre engine. The MPVs would be mounted with five-speed manual transmission, while Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT) versions are also in the offing.
