Less than three days of shut down, Reliance Industries has restarted its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plants and is ramping up production to full capacity at Dahej. The PTA plants were shut on Tuesday due to increased water salinity.
RIL ensured PTA supplies to downstream customers from its Hazira and Patalganga plants during the brief shutdown at Dahej and now they will get supply from all three locations, said the company in a statement.
Of the country’s total PTA capacity of six mt, RIL accounts for 4.2 mt and another 1.2 mt of capacity will be added in the current year, it said. However, Reliance added the total PTA demand in India is about five mt and the surplus is being exported.
