Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL-VSP) registered all-round improvement in its performance in May, according to a press release.
It achieved growth of 10 per cent in saleable steel production and over 12 per cent in finished steel production and 5 per cent in power generation.
The plant once again surpassed its best May performance since inception in average oven pushings, gross coke production, BF coke production and tar production.
On the sales front, RINL achieved growth of two per cent despite sluggish market conditions.
Special steel sales were 85 per cent of total saleable steel, representing a growth of 12 per cent. Branded products sales grew 11 per cent while wire rod products grew 13 per cent. New grades for the transmission line towers sector were developed during the month.
The remaining expansion works are in full swing for progressive commissioning of all units during the current fiscal, the release said.
