Rama Prasad Goenka, founder of the RPG Group, on Wednesday received the Distinguished Management Fellowship Award from the Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM).

Justice Chittatosh Mookerjee, President of the Board of Governors of IISWBM, Prof. Suranjan Das, Vice-Chancellor, Calcutta University, and Prof. DK Sanyal, Acting Director-IISWBM, presented the award at his residence here.

In its citation, IISWBM, which was formed in 1953 by the University of Calcutta and is India’s oldest management institute, says, “On the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee, IISWBM is profoundly happy to honour Dr Rama Prasad Goenka and recognize his outstanding contribution to the cause of industrialization in the country, especially West Bengal”.

The octogenarian has spawned, following the recent split of his business between his two sons, two separate industrial and business houses -- RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and RPG Enterprises. He continues to be the Chairman Emeritus of both the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group and RPG Enterprises.
