Reliance Power said that the fourth 660 MW unit of the 3,960-MW Sasan ultra mega power project has commenced power generation. The capacity operational at the plant is now 2,640 MW. The remaining two units were in advanced stages of construction and would be commissioned in the next few months, RPower said.
Coal production has commenced from the 20- million-tonne Moher and Moher-Amlohri coal mines associated with the project. With this unit, Reliance Power’s generation capacity has increased to 4,525 MW, which includes 4,440 MW of thermal and 85 MW of renewable energy.
