Reliance Power has entered into a partnership with China Datang Corporation (CDT) for the development and operation of power and energy projects in India and overseas.
CDT will be represented by its wholly owned subsidiary China Datang Overseas Investment Company (CDTO).
CDT, with a generating capacity of 105,896 MW, is one of the largest power generation companies in China. Its generation capacity is over 50 per cent of India’s current capacity.
China Datang Corporation is a Fortune 500 company and among the top 50 companies in China, RPower said.
RPower said the co operation will be for its three coal mines in South Sumatra, Indonesia (having two billion tonnes of coal resources), mine development and investment, besides developing transportation infrastructure for the mines.
Operations and maintenance services
Focus will also be on providing operations and maintenance (O&M) services to power plants in India and other markets, including RPower’s units.
Reliance Power said: “We will be able to draw from CDTO’s vast talent pool of experienced O&M resources. We will also be able to deploy best operating practices for equipment sourced from China and other global suppliers.”
China Datang said the partnership with provide a platform to expand its footprint in emerging markets such as India and Indonesia, which hold enormous business opportunities.
