Reliance Power has synchronised the first of two units of its 600 MW Butibori thermal power project, near Nagpur.
Power generated will mainly be distributed to industrial as well as distribution utilities in Maharashtra.
Reliance Power said the first unit had been synchronised in a record time of over 21 months from boiler erection. The second 300 MW unit is will be commissioned before the end of this calendar year. The Rs 3,600-crore plant is among the most compact-sized thermal plants with its 600 MW capacity requiring not more than 275 acres.

The balance would go to industrial consumers with whom the company has also signed agreements.
RInfra will pay Rs 4.80 a unit to RPower for the power vended. The tariff for industrial consumers would also be in the similar range or marginally higher depending on their requirement.
