Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has registered sales growth of 11 per cent in May 2014 at 1.06 million tonnes against 0.96 mt in May last year.
Rise in exports was 76 per cent. Hot metal production was up 4 per cent at 1.26 mt.
SAIL Chairman CS Verma said: “We foresee the present thrust on infrastructure growth translate into higher demand for steel in the country. This certainly augurs very well for the industry, and SAIL is geared to meet this resurgent demand.”
