Float glass manufacturer, Saint—Gobain India, launched new range of fire safety glasses that can provide fire resistance up to 120 minutes.
The glasses made through advanced tampering or multi lamination process can be used for doors, partitions, building facades, fire exits, server rooms and corridors, a company statement here said.
Besides, the glasses can also provide high light transmission enabling visibility of trapped people, it said.
Saint Gobain has two manufacturing facilities in India and holds 38 per cent market share in the float glass market.
Stating that casualties during a fire accident occur during the first hour and mostly due to the heat generated by the fire, it said the fire resistance glasses would be transparent making the fire visible from adjoining rooms.
The resistance of the fire for almost two hours would allow enough time for either stopping or escaping from the place and moreover, cutting off the heat generated by the fire would avoid casualties caused by the heat.
The glasses can be used in hotel lobbies, staircase, theatres, airports, hospitals, stadiums and commercial buildings.
