Samsung Electronics India on Thursday launched its latest smartphone, the Galaxy S5, priced between ₹51,000 and ₹53,000. The device will available across the country through Samsung’s retail stores and e-commerce sites from April 11.
The company also expanded its ‘wearable line’ with the next generation of watch gear devices — Galaxy Gear 2 — priced at ₹21,900 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo and Galaxy Gear Fit priced at ₹15,900 each.
“The Galaxy S5 has been created to maximise consumer benefits by integrating superior hardware with enhanced smartphone usability and an iconic design,” Vineet Taneja, Country Head, IT and Mobile Division at Samsung India, said.
The Galaxy S5 has an advanced camera (16 megapixel back and 2MP front). It runs on the latest Android operating system — 4.4.2 (Kitkat) — with a RAM of 2 GB and internal memory of 16 GB. The new handset also supports 3G services but not 4G based on LTE technology.
Other features The S5 also has additional features such as S Health 3.0 which provides a personal fitness tracker to help users monitor diet and exercise records. It also has a built-in heart rate sensor.
Similarly, the wearable devices (Gear Fit, Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo) will allow users to express their mood or coordinate with their outfit with strap colour options.
