Sanghi Ind hikes cement capacity to 4.1 m.t.

New grinding unit with 1.2 mtpa capacity inaugurated

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on Friday inaugurated Sanghi Industries Ltd’s new grinding unit with a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) at its plant in Kutch. The new unit will increase Sanghi’s cement production capacity to 4.1 MTPA from the present 2.9 MTPA currently.

The company has invested around Rs 125 crore in this new facility.

Ravi Sanghi, Chairman & Managing Director, Sanghi Industries Ltd, said, "Inauguration of the grinding unit by Gujarat Chief Minister is a testimony to the fact that Sanghi Industries Ltd is considered as one of the leading corporate which has contributed to the industrial growth in Kutch and Gujarat.”

Alok Sanghi, Director of the company said, “Our focus is on increasing efficiencies at our manufacturing facility as well as reducing our carbon footprint by cutting down on pollutants that affect the environment. Our objective is to improve profitability and margins through reducing costs and higher productivity. The new grinding unit would increase productivity, while the WHRS would reduce our costs and greenhouse gas emissions.”

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for a 15 mega watt (MW) Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS) that Company proposes to set up to recycle waste heat of cement plant to be converted into power, it said in a statement.

The Company will invest Rs 150 crore to develop this Green Energy project and expects to commission it in next two years.

Sanghi had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese company for this project in May 2015.

The waste heat recovery can become an economical and reliable supplement to captive power generation in an energy-intensive industry like cement. It will also be used for energy conservation and efficiency to help cement industry meet its low carbon technology target.
