Sanofi India aims to double consumer healthcare biz

Sanofi India (previously known as Aventis Pharma) today said it aims to double its consumer healthcare business in the next five years.

“We have a share of 2.1 per cent of the total Rs 27,000 crore consumer healthcare market in India. We aim to double it in the next five years,” Sanofi senior director (consumer healthcare), Anindya Chowdhury said here today during the launch of OTC medicine Combiflam Plus.

The consumer healthcare portfolio that consists of 41 products for Sanofi currently generates close to Rs 560 crore revenues out of a total turnover of Rs 1,230 crore in the year 2011, he said.

The company will remain focused in the segment as it accounts for 40 per cent of the total pharma market in the country, Chowdhury said.

Speaking about the new OTC brand Combiflam Plus, Chowdhury said the company was looking at 4—5 per cent marketshare of the Rs 233 crore headache tablet segment in India.

Meanwhile, Chowdhury said Combiflam Plus, is a targeted, fast and effective solution for headaches. It will be available in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Punjab and Haryana in the pack of four tablet.
