Schneider Electric today launched the Smart Panel concept, an energy management solution that facilitates energy savings in buildings.

These panels could be deployed in public and commercial offices, modern retail premises, hospitals and hotels, apart from industrial set-ups.

Based on Schneider Electric’s energy management principle of ‘measure, connect, and save, the smart panel is a plug and play solution contributing towards the need to curb energy costs and meet the norms for green buildings.

Shrinivas Chebbi, Vice-President, India and SAARC, EcoBuildings and Partner Projects, Schneider Electric, in a statement said: “With buildings accounting for almost 40 per cent of energy use in most countries, there is immense potential for improvement in their energy efficiency. Apart from meeting regulatory compliances, the owners and occupants of buildings will benefit from long-term energy and financial savings through Smart Panels.”

Smart cities

These smart panels fit into the Government’s focus on smart cities aiding in energy management.

Smart panels are intelligently embedded with metering, control and communication capabilities. The ‘save’ mode assists building owners to undertake energy analyses. This is achieved through onsite real-time monitoring and control, which gives a clear understanding of the building’s energy consumption by zone and usage types.
