Schneider Electric on Monday commissioned a factory to manufacture electricity grid components and systems near Chennai.
The factory will also produce a new range of products including feeder automation systems for a range of industries.
It is the company’s second automation unit in India after the one in Noida.
The plant doubles Schneider’s production capacity, expands its product base and significantly increases its reach in the domestic and international markets, according to Anil Chaudhry, Country President & Managing Director - India. He told media persons that the factory, near Poonamallee, a Chennai suburb, has generated over 150 jobs. However, he declined to share specific numbers on production capacity and investment.
The €24-billion Schneider, which specialises in energy management products and systems, is celebrating its 50th year of operations in India. As part of this, the company has launched a series of events to share its knowledge on energy efficiency and sustainability in 50 cities across the country.
