Global energy management and automation solutions company Schneider Electric on Thursday launched a new range of energy-efficient contactors, for switching and control applications, and compact circuit breakers.
Deepak Sharma, Manager, Schneider Electric, said: “The products have been simultaneously launched in India and a couple of select markets.”
The products, to be largely deployed in industrial and building segments, will be initially sourced from the company’s global manufacturing units.
The firm’s €27-billion revenues will be diversified to manufacture the components at the company facility in Telangana. The unit, which is located near Hyderabad, was recently upgraded and its capacity doubled, with women making up about two-thirds of its employees.
Shrinivas Chebbi, Vice President - Partner Projects and Eco-Buidlings Business Unit, Schneider Electric India, said: “New regulations and standards require companies to be more accountable for energy efficiency and sustainability. The products, which are designed keeping in mind OEMs and plant managers, ensure significant cost savings, both during installations and when in use. The circuit breakers provide protection to low-voltage electrical installations and applications in switchboards, panel boards and control panels for power distribution purpose.”
If the current trends are any indication, the energy requirement is set to double at a rapid pace as the demand goes up, Chebbi added.
Significantly, with countries committing and seeking to cut down on emissions and energy usage, such energy-efficient products will play a critical role, he said.
