Seco Tools India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Swedish company Seco Tools AB has inaugurated its new plant and office at Koregaon Bheema near Pune.
The inauguration coincided with the completion of the 20 years of the company’s operations in India. The theme of the program was '20 years of technical expertise, passion and productivity'.
“For us, the plant in Pune is extremely strategic because it is our biggest plant outside Europe in terms of production capacity. We want to expand our presence in India and in other countries also through the exports made from here. We will increase the capability and capacity of this plant,” Lars Bergstrom, Group President and CEO, Seco Tools AB, Sweden, said.
Appealing to customers to come up with more demands, he said, “Challenge us with the machining and we will develop well with your cooperation,” and added that the plan was to add manpower to take the present strength of 600 employees to 1000 very shortly.
Outlining the 20-year long journey of the company in India, Andreas Fritz, Managing Director India and senior VP Asia Pacific said that Seco Tools had 33,000 products in its portfolio globally and most of them were manufactured at Pune. All of them were of global standard, he said, observing, “It is very exciting to live in India during such times personally as well as professionally. Our expansion will go on it future also.”
Speaking on the occasion, Baba Kalyani, chairman and managing director, Bharat Forge said, “It is very impressive to see the progress that the Seco Tools India has made. I have personal interest in seeing its expansion because I am one of the customers of the company. It is great to have partners like Seco. It has brought technology from parent company from Sweden and is very important for an emerging economy like India.”
