Mr P. Dwarakanath looks set to be BEML’s next Chairman and Managing Director.
His name has been recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) from among 15 candidates.
Six of them are from BEML. ITI’s CMD, Mr K.L. Dhingra, is also in the race. An informed person said Mr Dwarakanath was unlikely to take charge before October. Currently, he is Director (Rail & Metro) division.
The board’s recommendation is followed by vigilance and other clearances and the final order comes after a few months.
As BEML’s senior most Director, Mr Dwarakanath is already acting CMD after the Government suspended Mr V.R.S. Natarajan, BEML’s chief of 10 years, earlier this month.
The latter got into a spat with the former Army chief over the issue of Tatra military trucks that BEML produces.
Mr Natarajan is due to retire on September 30 and his course of action post-suspension is not known.
