Riding on the back of robust demand, the industrial gears and gear box manufacturer Coimbatore-based Shanthi Gears Ltd has recorded a sharp jump in turnover and net profit in Q 4 of 2010-11 compared with the same quarter in 2009-10. According to the audited results, the net sales/income from operations in the Jan-March quarter of 2010-11 was Rs 55.66 crore compared with Rs 32.45 crore in the same quarter in the previous financial year. Profit before tax more than doubled to Rs 16.01 crore (Rs 7.34 crore).
Despite tax expenses trebling to Rs 6.50 crore (Rs 2.19 crore), the net profit saw a near 80 per cent jump to Rs 9.51 crore compared with Rs 5.15 crore in the final quarter of 2009-10.The EPS for the quarter was Rs 1.16 (Re 0.63). For the whole year (2010-11), SGL recorded a turnover of Rs 160.36 crore (Rs 121.38 crore) and a net profit of Rs 27.86 crore (Rs 16.18 crore). The EPS was Rs 3.41 (Rs 1.98). The company has declared a dividend of Re 1 per share (face value Re 1).
