Shree Renuka Sugars on Monday commissioned a sugar refinery near Kandla port in the West coast.
The refining capacity of the refinery is 3,000 tonnes a day and co-generation capacity is 45 MW, a press release said.
The refinery will take the port-based refining capacity of the company to 17 lakh tonnes a year.
The company operates a 2,000-tonne-a-day sugar refinery near Haldia port on the East coast.
India, the world's top sugar consumer, is expected to churn out 24.2 million tonnes of sugar in 2010-11 and the output may jump to 26.5 million tonnes in 2011-12, according to industry estimates.
