Siemens Drive Technologies Division has bagged orders from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for supply of large gear units and gear components for vertical mills for coal grinding.
The supply to BHEL is to cover the overall demand for the next three years. The value of the order is in the (Euro) double-digit million range.
“Since India's demand for energy is growing rapidly, coal-fired power plants are constantly being built and expanded. The Flender gear units from Siemens are deployed in vertical mills with an output of 800 and 1000 kW, which are used for coal grinding in the power plants,” said a company release.
Due to their rugged design, these powerful and reliable drives are ideal for the harsh ambient conditions in power plants and permit smooth operation.
“We see this major order as a convincing vote of confidence from BHEL in reliability of the Flender gear units and the commitment and cooperation of our employees,” said Dr Bernhard Hoffmann, Head of the Mechanical Drives Segment in the Siemens Industry Sector.
