Siemens has bagged a turnkey order (design, engineering, commissioning and installation) worth Rs 411 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).
The order is for static var compensators (SVCs) for three PGCIL’s substations in Ludhiana, Kankroli (Rajasthan) and New Wangpoh (Jammu & Kashmir).
An SVC is a high-voltage system that dynamically controls the network voltage and keeps the network voltage constant.
“The delivery of stable, reliable power supply to meet the increasing demands from industry and urban centres is crucial for India’s sustainable progress, ” said Sunil Mathur, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Ltd.
