Siemens has signed an MoU with Karnataka’s Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) to provide an impetus to skills development in the machine tool industry.
This initiative will substantially reduce ‘on job training’ for industry, thereby improve productivity and machine utilisation in industry.
Siemens is providing all the 20 centres of GTTC with modern CNC simulation and virtual training software called ‘SinuTrain’ which would provide training to at least 1,400 operators, making them ‘industry ready’. This, along with the ‘Train the Trainer’ programme for faculty, would enable GTTC to provide world-class training programmes.
The machine tool industry is often referred to as the ‘mother Industry’, a pre-requisite for a competitive manufacturing industry. The Indian machine tool market needs about 50,000 operators every year with a quarter of them required in South India alone.
