State-owned Singareni Collieries Co Ltd has notched up coal production of 53.19 million tonnes last fiscal, registering a nearly two per cent increase over the previous year. Significantly, it could achieve an increase of one mt production from underground mines, which hold the key to the country’s future coal output. Its output from underground mines was 11.60 mt during the year, the company said in a statement.
It supplied more coal to the power sector than the linkage during the year. It dispatched 20.4 mt to APGenco’s power utilities, about 67 per cent more than the linkage. Similarly, for NTPC, it provided 12.84 mt, about 26 per cent more than the allotment. However, its average production cost increased to Rs 1,838 per tonne during the year compared with Rs 1,697 a tonne in the previous year.
