The State-owned coal mining company Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) produced 5.01 million tonnes of coal in October 2015 as against a target of 4.73 mt, thereby, registering an output of 106 per cent.
Last October (2014), SCCL had produced 4.24 mt. During October 2015, the company managed to supply 4.75 mt of coal as against 4.35 mt in October 2014. This shows an increase of over 9.22 per cent year-on-year for October.
According to a statement from the SCCL management, in the open cast mines spread across Telangana State, the mining company removed overburden of 27.99 million cubic metres as against a target of 26.11 million cubic metres, thereby achieving 107 per cent output. Last year during October, the SCCL miners had removed overburden of 23.10 million cubic meters, the statement said.
