Singareni Collieries Company Limited has achieved a record production of 43.24 million tonnes of coal during the first nine months ended December 2015, up 23 per cent over 35.2 MT achieved in the during corresponding nine months last financial year.

The State-owned mining company registered 13 per cent higher output during December 2015 at 5.7 MT as against target of 5.09 MT. The increase output also enabled the company to despatch higher to its major clients in the power and other sectors, made possible by increase in railway rakes.

The mega Adriyala mine project has also managed an output of over two lakh tonnes in December 2015, playing a significant role in boosting the overall coal output.

N Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL, while taking on record the company performance during the first nine months, expressed that the last quarter this fiscal would also help boost the overall performance of the company.

During the period, the NTPC Ramagundam project in Karimnagar was supplied 10.23 lakh tonnes (up 20 per cent) over contracted 8.5 lakh tonnes, the Kothagudem thermal power station was supplied 8.67 lakh tonnes (up 83 per cent) over contracted 4.75 lakh tonnes, and Raichur thermal power station was supplied 4.67 lakh tonnes as against contracted 2.61 lakh tonnes.

Aided by improved logistics, the despatches through railway rakes were higher by 31.5 per cent at 7,669 rakes during the nine months as against 5,829 rakes same period last year.

The overburden removal too was up 17 per cent at 223 cubic meters during nine months, according to Singareni Collieries.
