The State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) on Tuesday announced that it recorded highest coal supplies of 1,94,879 tonnes on a single day on March 26, crossing the earlier bench mark of 1,90,178 tonnes dispatched on one day on March 31, 2011.

The figure could have crossed two lakh tonnes but for the short supply of railway rakes at Manuguru and Kothagudem Coal Handling Plants. The supplies include 53,275 tonnes to utilities of AP GENCO and 60,903 tonnes to NTPC, Ramagundam.

According to a statement from the SCCL, the Colliery is poised to achieve its annual target of 52.2 million tonnes by the end of March.

It is making all out efforts to supply as much coal as possible during the week. Its production and supplies are linked to Power Utilities. It is aiming to do this by enhancing production while also liquidating the ground stocks available with the company.

The Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL, Mr Narsing Rao, congratulated all its stakeholders including the employees, Railways and customers for this outstanding performance, resulting in new heightened supply.

The company has sewn up a series of new projects aimed at enhancing its output during the 12th Plan period. In addition, it is set to execute a thermal power plant in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh, close to the coal mines.
