Singareni Collieries expects production level to touch 54 million tonnes this fiscal.
Sutirtha Bhattacharya, Chairman and Managing Director, said the company was confident of meeting this production target, despite some disruption in operations due to rains. In the last 10 years, it had been consistently meeting production targets, he added.
He said the company was on track in implementing a power project in Jayapore in Adilabad district.
He pointed out that coal requirement was surging, with India lagging behind production levels vis-à-vis the available resources. India has the third largest coal reserves, he said, while addressing employees on Monday.
The demand-supply gap continues to be significant, impacting power production in the country. “Therefore, it is our duty to enhance productivity and achieve higher targets,” he said.
