The indefinite strike by the AITUC-affiliated Singareni Collieries Workers Union entered the third day on Wednesday, even as the company stated that production was near normal. Singareni Collieries Co Ltd said production at all its mines on Tuesday had touched 1.55 lakh tonnes. In the first shift on Wednesday, the average attendance was 65 per cent, while on Tuesday it was 55 per cent, the company said in a statement. Talks between the management and the union representatives remained inconclusive on Tuesday, with the union resolving to continue the strike to press their 47-point charter of demands. —
