Skipper net profit up 32%

Kolkata-based Skipper Ltd, manufacturer of power transmission and distribution structures, has posted 32 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 29 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2017, against Rs 22 crore in the same period last year.

Net sales grew 33 per cent to Rs 566 crore during the quarter under review compared with Rs 425 crore in the same period last year.

The company has secured new orders to the tune of Rs 525 crore for engineering products from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Transmission Corporation of Telangana and Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation.

Skipper has also bagged orders from neighbouring countries like Nepal and Bangladesh, a press statement issued by the company said.

“Apart from growing our business in India, we are focusing on a robust international network. Our current clearance from Canadian Welding Bureau gives us an access to the potential North American market,” Sharan Bansal, Director of Skipper, said in the statement.
