Garment-maker Monte Carlo Fashions and Czech automobile company Skoda Auto have entered into an agreement where the latter will be allowed to use the “Monte Carlo” trademark for its cars.
Monte Carlo Fashions had moved a Delhi court against Skoda for trademark infringement after Skoda launched the ‘Monte Carlo’ edition of its Rapid sedan in August 2017. It has been a year since the Delhi court admitted Monte Carlo’s plea, a press release said.
However, both parties decided to settle the dispute amicably. Under the agreement, Skoda has got a licence from Monte Carlo Fashions to use the ‘Monte Carlo’ trademark for its cars, spare parts and car accessories for packaging material, marketing, promotions and advertising.
“We have agreed to give Skoda a licence to use our brand name to market and sell their ‘Monte Carlo’ edition of cars. This is a win-win solution for both the companies,” said Rishabh Oswal, Executive Director, Monte Carlo Fashions Ltd.
