Sony India today announced its sales achievement of Rs 6,313 crore in 2011-12 fiscal, up 16 per cent from a year-ago period.
Bravio, vaio and digital imaging (cyber-shot, handycam, alpha and photo-frame) have been the growth drivers of the India operations, contributing 35 per cent, 20 per cent and 15 per cent, respectively to the total sales in 2011-12.
Sony India is currently at number six position as a single country contributing to global sales and the company plans to elevate a notch higher by 2012-13.
At present, the company has 10,400 sales channels, including brand shops, national chains and distributors. Sony India plans to increase it to 12,200 channels by 2012-13.
Sony India currently has 255 service touch points which it plans to take to 285 by 2012-13 fiscal.
The company followed a strong brand promotion strategy last fiscal investing Rs 360 crore. In the current fiscal, it plans to spend Rs 450 crore in brand promotion.
Sony India plans to increase its manpower by 500 in 2012-13 from 3,300 to 3,800. It plans to increase its sales turnover by 30 per cent from Rs 6313 crore in 2011-12.
