Sports channel Sony SIX has bagged exclusive rights to air the upcoming Golf Premier League. The first season of the league is slated from February 8 to February 10. In a statement, Shiv Kapur and Neeraj Sareen, co-founders, Pearls Golf Premier League, said the format of the game would be interesting for live viewing.
Man Jit Singh, CEO of Multi Screen Media, said, “The Golf Premier League is an important step towards the evolution of the game as a popular spectator sport in India. I am sure that the format, coming together of world-class players and other exciting aspects including day and night golf, will make for compelling viewing.”
Sony SIX will telecast the game live on all three days. The event is hosted by Aamby Valley City to showcase some of the world’s top players, including Darren Clarke, Angel Cabrera and Michael Campbell, competing with local and Asian champions, including Shiv Kapur.
The telecast will also include commentary by Vijay Amritraj, Shaili Chopra and Brandon de Souza, and will be played at Aamby Valley Golf Course in Maharashtra.
