Low cost airline SpiceJet has ignited again a fare war by launching a new promotional campaign in which 10 lakh seats are up for grabs at fares that it says are lower than even train fares!
The bonanza for travellers would be available just for three days-from July 8 to 10, 2014- for travel that is some months away: between January 6, 2015 and Oct 24, 2015 to destinations across the country at fares starting at a tantalisingly low Rs 999!
The airline’s communication mentions Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Madurai and Mumbai as among the flight originating stations that are covered under the mega sale it has launched. The sale would cover direct flights and also onward/via flights.
But the fare of Rs 999 was only one-way starting base fare and all other statutory levies would be extra. The fare would vary from sector to sector depending on the distance travelled, only limited inventory was available and group bookings were exempt from the low fare promo. There would be blackout dates. No refund would be given for bookings cancelled but changes would attract normal charges.
