Despite a sharp rise in raw material prices, Kochi-based Sree Sakthi Paper Mills Ltd has netted higher profits in the first quarter of the current year, compared to the corresponding period last year.
Production increased by 2 per cent to 19,619 tonnes during the quarter, and with better realisation, the company's top line grew 13 per cent from Rs 43.88 crore in Q1-FY11 to Rs 49.65 crore in Q1-FY12.
The cost of raw material went up by 22 per cent, yet, through various cost control measures, the company managed to post a creditable growth of 16.5 per cent in its bottom line.
The expansion-cum-modernisation of the company's Edayar plant without any addition to equity capital is reportedly progressing according to schedule.
